How the system works
Like Finland, Sweden runs a central system: one account, one set of documents, several programmes.

The country-specific instructions
This is the most overlooked part of the Swedish system. universityadmissions.se maintains a page per country stating:
- Exactly which documents are required
- How each must be submitted — uploaded, posted, or sent directly by the issuing institution
- Which qualifications count as bachelor's-equivalent in Sweden
Read the Bangladesh page before you start and print a checklist from it. The commonest cause of a rejected Bangladeshi application is not qualifications — it is sending documents in a way the instructions did not specify.
Step by step
1. Create the account (before October). Use your passport name and date of birth, and a permanent email address; all correspondence runs through it.
2. Choose and rank programmes. Priority order matters in Sweden too — you receive at most one offer, following your ranking. Put your first choice first and a safe option last.
3. Submit documents the specified way. Some may be uploaded; others must be sent directly by the issuing institution. Do not substitute a method you find more convenient.
4. Pay the fee. Non-EU/EEA applicants must pay, and an unpaid application is not assessed at all. If your Bangladeshi card has trouble with international payments, see the payment guide.
5. English proof. Sweden generally requires English 6, roughly IELTS 6.5 with no band below 5.5. It varies by programme — check each page.
Results and next steps
- Results usually in March or April
- An offer must be accepted within the stated period or it lapses
- Then the first tuition instalment, then the residence permit online with Migrationsverket

One thing about scholarships
Sweden's main scholarships — university-level and national — are almost always applied for separately, at or just after the admission application, with deadlines close to the admission deadline.
In other words, "I will look for scholarships after 15 January" does not work. The two applications have to be planned together. See the Nordic scholarships overview.
