For Bangladeshi students, Erasmus Mundus is probably the most prestigious and generous full scholarship available — and one of the least understood, because it does not work like a national scholarship.

The central misconception: there is no single Erasmus Mundus application. Every Joint Master's is a separate consortium with a separate deadline and separate conditions. The strategy is several applications, not one.

Realistic expectations
Competition is global, so there is no certainty. The intelligent approach is to try Erasmus Mundus while keeping other doors open — DSU in Italy, Stipendium Hungaricum with its Bangladesh allocation, or a self-funded programme in a lower-cost country. Results arrive in spring; if Erasmus Mundus is your only plan and it does not come through, several other countries' deadlines will already have passed.
Timing
Deadlines cluster between December and January for a start the following September or October. Working backwards, that means shortlisting programmes in the autumn, contacting referees by October, and having transcripts and English evidence ready before December — the same calendar discipline every European scholarship demands.

Mainly Master's — the Joint Master's programmes. Doctoral and other Erasmus+ opportunities exist, but for Bangladeshi applicants the Joint Master's is by far the most common route.
How competitive is it really?+
Very. Applicants come from every continent, and a Bangladeshi applicant competes in a global pool rather than a country allocation (unlike Stipendium Hungaricum). Strong academic background, a specific motivation letter for that particular programme, good references and several applications improve the odds — but nobody should plan a year on Erasmus Mundus alone.
