Invest Your Talent in Italy: is it open to Bangladesh?

Invest Your Talent in Italy (IYT) is run by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the Italian Trade Agency and Uni-Italia. It is a country-restricted programme: each edition publishes a list of eligible nationalities, and that list is redefined edition to edition.

Bangladesh has not been a consistent entry on it. So before reading further, open the current call on the official site and find the country list. If Bangladesh is absent this edition, nothing else in this article changes your situation, and the honest recommendation is to put the time into the regional DSU grant instead, which has no nationality restriction at all.

We are including the guide anyway for two reasons: the list does change, and students are frequently sold IYT by agents who have not checked.

What the programme actually is

It is not primarily a scholarship. It is a degree plus placement package:

ComponentWhat it means
The degreeA master's at a participating Italian university, taught in English, in engineering, advanced technology, architecture, design, economics or management
The internshipA placement with an Italian company, arranged through the programme - this is the distinctive part
Italian languageA course, because the placement is in an Italian workplace
The scholarshipA contribution set in each edition's call, paid toward living costs

The scholarship amount is republished with every edition and is a contribution, not a full package. It does not automatically waive tuition - your fees at a public Italian university are still decided by your assessed income through the ISEE parificato, and at a private participating institution by that institution's own rules. Read the current call for the figure and do not accept a number quoted by anyone who is not the ministry.

Why the internship is the real value

Plenty of schemes pay more. Very few solve the problem IYT solves, which is that an international student in Italy without Italian struggles to get into an Italian company at all. A structured placement, arranged as part of the programme, with language training attached, is worth more over five years than the cash component - particularly in engineering and management, where the Italian graduate market runs heavily on internal referral.

That also tells you who the programme is for: someone who wants to work in Italy, not someone who wants a cheap degree and will leave.

How the application works

  1. 1Confirm eligibility - nationality, degree level, and the field list.
  2. 2Choose from the participating universities and programmes named in that edition. The list is fixed; a programme not on it cannot be substituted.
  3. 3Apply through the programme's own portal by its deadline, which sits earlier than most Italian university deadlines.
  4. 4Complete the standard Italian route in parallel - pre-enrolment on Universitaly and the visa application, which the scholarship does not replace. The pre-enrolment guide covers that side.
  5. 5Selection is by the universities and the programme together, on academic record, motivation and fit with the placement side.

What it does not cover

  • Your flight, your visa fee, or your document legalisation chain.
  • The gap between the contribution and the real cost of a year in Italy, which the cost calculator will show you honestly.
  • Tuition, automatically. That is still an ISEE question.
  • Any guarantee of a job after the internship. It is a placement, not an offer.

The honest summary

If Bangladesh is on the current list and you want to build a career in Italy in one of the named fields, IYT is a strong and unusually practical programme - the placement is the sort of thing money cannot easily buy. If Bangladesh is not on the list, it is not a near miss or something to appeal; it simply does not apply, and time spent on it is time not spent on the DSU deadline in August.

Check the list. Then decide.

Common questions

Can Bangladeshi students apply for Invest Your Talent in Italy?+

Only if Bangladesh appears on the eligible country list for the current edition, and that list is redefined each edition rather than being fixed. Check the official programme site before doing anything else, and treat an agent's assurance as unverified until you have seen the list yourself.

Does the scholarship cover tuition?+

Not automatically. It is a contribution toward living costs set in each edition's call. Tuition at an Italian public university is decided separately by your assessed family income through the ISEE parificato, which you still have to file.

Is the internship guaranteed to lead to a job?+

No. It is a structured placement with an Italian company and nothing in the programme promises an offer at the end. Its real value is access to Italian employers, which is otherwise very hard for an international student without Italian.
