Europass CV template
The Europass structure European universities expect, with guidance on what to write in each section — and what Bangladeshi students routinely include that they should not.
How to use this: Europass is the format European institutions read most fluently, and you can build one free at europass.europa.eu. You do not have to use their tool — the structure below is what matters. Keep it to two pages. Use reverse-chronological order everywhere: most recent first.
Section 1 — Personal information
Full name (spelled exactly as in your passport) · Address · Phone with country code (+880 …) · Email · Date of birth · Nationality · LinkedIn or portfolio if you have one worth showing.
Leave out marital status, religion, your father's name, your national ID number, and a photograph unless the university specifically asks for one. These are standard on a Bangladeshi CV and are read as odd — occasionally as a discrimination risk the institution would rather not handle — on a European one.
Section 2 — Education and training
[Degree / HSC / SSC] — [Institution], [City, Country] [Start year] – [End year] Result: [GPA/CGPA out of the stated scale, e.g. 4.50/5.00] Relevant coursework: [three or four modules that connect to the programme you are applying for] Thesis/project: [title and one line on what it did]
Always state the scale. "CGPA 3.40" means nothing on its own to a reader who does not know whether the maximum is 4 or 5. If your institution provides a percentage conversion, give both.
Section 3 — Work experience

- [What you were responsible for, written as a result rather than a duty]
- [A number where you have one: how many, how much, how often, how much faster]
Include internships, part-time work, tutoring and family-business work — all of it counts, particularly if it explains a study gap. Write "reduced monthly stock discrepancies from about 15% to under 3%" rather than "responsible for inventory management".
Section 4 — Language skills
Bengali — Native speaker English — [IELTS 6.5 overall (L 6.5 / R 6.5 / W 6.0 / S 7.0), 2026] or [CEFR C1] [Any other language] — [CEFR level]
Give the test, the breakdown and the year. A bare "IELTS 6.5" invites the reader to check the transcript; a full line answers the question in place.
Section 5 — Digital and other skills
Programming or software: [list what you can actually use] Certifications: [with issuer and year] Other: [driving licence, laboratory techniques, anything genuinely relevant]
Optional sections worth adding
Publications — if you have any, in a consistent citation format. Volunteering — real, sustained involvement with dates, not one-day events. Awards — with the awarding body and the year.
Before you send it
- Two pages maximum, PDF, named `CV_YourName.pdf`
- Consistent date format throughout (`Month Year`)
- No personal details European employers and universities do not ask for
- Every GPA stated with its scale
- Spell-checked, and read once by someone else
- Tailored: the "relevant coursework" line should change per programme
