Europass is the European Union's own CV format — a common structure that lets a committee in Helsinki and a scholarship office in Budapest read your background the same way. Many of the applications a Bangladeshi student makes will ask for it by name.

What a Bangladeshi applicant should highlight
- Academic results, with the GPA or CGPA and its scale stated plainly (a 3.6 out of 4.0 reads differently from a 3.6 out of 5.0)
- Relevant projects, thesis work and competitions — named specifically
- English proficiency — IELTS band or a Medium of Instruction background
- Volunteering and leadership
- Technical skills — programming languages, laboratory techniques, design tools
Consistency check: what the CV says must match the statement of purpose, the recommendation letters and the transcript. Three documents telling three slightly different stories cost credibility fast.
The common mistakes
- Too long — more than two pages is rarely justified for a student
- Over-designed — photographs, colours, graphics; Europass is deliberately plain
- Inflated language levels — the most easily checked weakness in the file
- Out-of-date information, or a CV recycled from a job application without adjustment
- Listing courses or skills the statement of purpose never mentions, and vice versa

A CV is not read in isolation. It is the summary that the statement of purpose explains and the recommendation letters corroborate — so write the three together, and let each one make the others believable.

Common questions
Does a Europass CV cost anything?+
No. The official builder at europa.eu/europass is free: you create an account, fill in your profile and export the CV as a PDF. Anyone charging for a Europass CV is charging for typing.
Do all European applications require the Europass format?+
No, but many do — several scholarships (Stipendium Hungaricum, for example) and a good number of universities specify it. Where a programme does not, a clean conventional CV is fine. Check each programme's instructions and use the format they ask for.
How should I describe my English level on a Europass CV?+
On the CEFR scale (A1 to C2), honestly. An IELTS 6.0–6.5 corresponds roughly to B2, 7.0–7.5 to C1. Overstating it is one of the most common — and most easily checked — weaknesses in a Bangladeshi applicant's CV.
