Why there is no "correct" conversion
European grading systems differ completely from one another — 30-point in Italy, 1.0–5.0 in Germany (lower is better), A–F or 1–5 in the Nordics. Even the ECTS grading table was relative ("the top 10% of students"), not a numeric conversion.
So when a website tells you "your 3.4 equals a German 1.9", that is an estimate. The admissions office uses its own country-specific tables, and those are what count.

Three practical rules for your application
1. Send the grading scale with the transcript. Bangladeshi transcripts usually print the scale on the reverse (A = 4.00, A- = 3.75 …). Scan that page. If your university does not print it, request it separately. Without it the evaluator guesses, and guesses do not favour you.
2. Include class rank if you can get it. ECTS grading was conceived as relative, so "6th of 85" says more than a CGPA does.
3. Do not convert it yourself. Never write "my CGPA 3.4 equals German 1.9" in an SOP or CV. Presenting an unofficial calculator's output as your own claim looks unprofessional and damages credibility if it is wrong. Give the raw facts — CGPA, scale, class — and let them do the conversion.
The Italian exception
Italian applications frequently require a CIMEA Statement of Comparability — a recognised body's written assessment of your degree's European equivalence. What is my CGPA in European grades?+
There is no official universal conversion. Online ECTS calculators are unofficial estimates that no university is bound by. Universities apply their own country-specific rules and often publish a minimum CGPA for Bangladesh directly.
How should I present my CGPA in an application?+
Give the raw facts — CGPA, the scale (out of 4.0), class or division, and class rank if available — and always include the grading-scale page from your transcript. Do not convert it yourself into another country's scale.
Does Italy need a separate evaluation?+
Often — either a CIMEA Statement of Comparability (paid, usually about a month) or a Declaration of Value from the Italian embassy in Dhaka. Which one applies is stated in the university's own instructions.
